The Saudi Umrah visa process has changed significantly in recent years. It's now faster and more digital than ever, but it still requires attention to detail.
Who Issues Umrah Visas?
For Pakistani pilgrims, Umrah visas are typically issued through licensed Hajj and Umrah operators who are registered with Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs. You cannot independently apply for an Umrah visa without going through an approved agent.
This means your first step is choosing a registered, reputable Umrah operator.
Required Documents
The exact requirements can vary slightly by year, but typically include:
Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity, at least 4 blank pages)
2 recent passport-size photographs (white background) for women picture must be in proper Hijab
CNIC copy
Confirmed travel booking details
Visa Processing Time
With most operators, if all documents are in order, the visa processing time is 3–7 working days. It's now largely electronic — the visa is stamped electronically linked to your passport.
Costs
Visa fees fluctuate and are separate from your travel package cost. Currently, Saudi Arabia has multiple Umrah visa categories with different fees and validity periods. Your operator will inform you of the current applicable fee.
Common Causes of Rejection or Delay
Passport with less than 6 months validity
Poor quality photographs (not white background, or not meeting size requirements)
Name spelling mismatch between CNIC and passport
